Shout out to all the design moms!

When I was a kid, I remember tagging along with my mom as she toured through show houses looking for ideas. Back then there was no HGTV or Instagram help, but she didn’t need it. She had great taste and great sensibilities. My mom definitely set me on my path! She didn’t get to see me become a designer, but I know she would be so proud.

There’s a special place in my heart for designing kids rooms. I still remember choosing my wallpaper with my mom and getting that chance to create. Having a space that reflects your personality and feels good is so important when you’re young. I recently collaborated with a young lady who was looking for a more grown-up space. She had some great ideas, and I had a blast making those ideas come to life. We created a sophisticated beautiful retreat with room to grow. I have to give a huge shout out to her mom. She took a hands-off approach and allowed her daughter to design her room her way. I love the idea that we may have sparked the same interest in design that I had at her age, and I look forward to seeing where that creativity takes her.
